Bandslash - Panic gen. I'm pretty sure this was for some we_are_cities prompt, but I have no idea which at this point. It might've been a fun little ficlet, but then I ran out of ideas pretty much where it stops.
Glitter is the last frontier, the uncharted territory that Ryan won't let them explore.
"Glitter is for girls," he says, ignoring Brendon's muttered, "Unlike, say, eye shadow," and Spencer's eye roll.
The truth is, though, Ryan has been contemplating glitter for a while now. Last time he was at MAC, he bought some in secret, but he's never been brave enough to actually wear it. So when Brendon finds it, it's kind of a big deal.
"Hey Ryan, what's this?" he calls out, his voice ringing through the bus. He tosses it to Jon, who reads, "Blue body glitter," and looks at Ryan quizzically.
Spencer says, "I thought that stuff was for girls," and Ryan looks at the floor and wants to die. He hates everybody so much right now.
"It's for my girlfriend," he mumbles. Spencer snickers. Jon says, "You mean the one you don't have?" Brendon hops from one foot to the other, chanting, "Ryan Ross is a girl, Ryan Ross is a girl," in singsong.
That night, after he's gotten his glitter back, Ryan decides enough is enough. He takes the glitter and sneaks over to Brendon and Spencer's bunks, giving them each glitter facial hair and topping it off with glittery bangs. He puts glitter in Jon's actual facial hair, but skips his bangs, figuring that that'll be hard enough to get out.
Then he throws the rest of the container out. Glitter was a dumb idea, anyway.
That morning, Brendon has first shower. A minute after he walks into the bathroom, a shriek rings out. He stomps out, shouting, "Ryan Ross, I hope you know what you're doing. This is war."
(Brendon takes great pride in his hair.)
Ryan grins. Spencer sleepily rubs his eyes and glances at Brendon, asking, "Do I look as ridiculous as you do?"
"Why don't you look in a mirror," Brendon snarls, flouncing back to the bathroom and slamming the door. Spencer mouths 'diva' at Ryan, who grins. Then Spencer seems to remember that he's supposed to be mad at Ryan. He frowns and turns away.
Above Ryan, Jon yawns, just waking up. "Hey guys, why is Ryan's glitter on my pillow?"
Spencer says grumpily, "You really don't want to know the answer to that question."
"I don't?" Jon stares at Spencer. Then he says, "Oh. I guess I didn't."
"Ryan," Spencer says, "I hope you realize you're getting the bathroom last this morning."
And thus begins the Great Prank War of 2006.
At first, the others are a team, all wanting to get back at Ryan, but after a few [think of pranks to list here], it becomes every man for himself.
